Newbold Comyn Leisure Centre
The project involved removing and disposing of the old flume including all existing steel supports and a corroded staircase that no longer conformed to current regulations.
The new flume layout was designed to follow a similar path and include a new modular fibreglass staircase with platform.
All new support steel was manufactured from mild steel, hot dipped galvanised to BS.EN.1461 treated with Mordant T-wash and decorated with a two pack epoxy polyurethane paint system.
Existing floor tiles and screed were removed locally to expose the structural concrete slab and the positions of new support bases were set-out and marked on site using digital survey equipment.
A new flume ride control system was fitted consisting of LED traffic lights triggered by high speed detection sensors to manage flume entry and assist staff supervision. The system also included a ride counter facility to record the number of users.
Country Leisure Fibreglass worked closely with local building contractors to complete the project for Warwick District Council.
